Privacy policy

Pocket Pet is a small pet that lives on your iPhone and Apple Watch and carries notes between the people in your family.

The short version: the developer collects no data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, no in-app purchases and no third-party software. What your family makes in the app stays on your devices and in your family's own iCloud.

Takes effect: 2026-10-11. Who is responsible: the developer of Pocket Pet. Questions:

What the app does not do

  • It does not ask you to make an account. Your identity comes from iCloud, and the app never sees your Apple ID password.
  • It shows no ads.
  • It has no analytics and no crash reporting.
  • It does not track you across other apps or websites.
  • It has no in-app purchases.
  • It includes no third-party software kits. The only services it talks to are Apple's (iCloud and Apple's push notification service).
  • The developer has no server and cannot read your family's data.

What data exists, and where it lives

When your family uses the app, it makes a small amount of data. This is what it is and where it goes.

Household data

  • Your pets: their names, coats and what they have been doing.
  • Member display names, the names you choose to show in the household.
  • Notes, photos and other deliveries that a family member chooses to send.
  • Events, such as a walk, a sip of water or a visit, so every phone in the household shows the same pet.
  • Step counts from your iPhone's motion sensors (CoreMotion). The app uses them to notice when you have been sitting still and to credit a walk.

This household data lives on your device and in your family's own iCloud. Technically it is stored in a CloudKit zone in the household owner's iCloud account, shared only with the members the owner invites. Nobody outside that household can see it, and the developer cannot see it either.

Apple Health (optional)

  • If you choose, a walk taken with the Watch can be saved to Apple Health as a workout.
  • If you choose, a glass of water can be logged to Apple Health.
  • Reading your step count from Apple Health is not offered in this version.

Health data is never sent to iCloud by the app, never shared with anyone, never sold, and never used for advertising. You can turn these options off at any time in the app or in the Health app on your iPhone.

Photos (optional)

If you allow it, the app only adds or replaces pictures in its own album, called "Pocket Pet", in your Photos library. It does not read your other photos.

Notifications

Reminders such as a sip, a stretch or a walk are local notifications made on your own device. They are optional and are not marketing.

Children and families

The app is made for kids, teens and families. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included. Sharing works only by invitation within one family: the household owner sends an invite, and only people who accept it can see the household or send anything to it. There is no public profile, no search for other people and no chat with strangers.

Parents and guardians: you can see every member in Household, remove a member, or start over at any time. If you have a concern about something shared in a household, email .

How to delete your data

  • Start over in Settings. If you are the household owner, this empties the household on every phone in it. If you are a participant, it makes you leave the household and removes it from your phone.
  • Deleting the app removes the app's data from that device.
  • Data in iCloud is in your own account. You can also manage or delete it from your iPhone's iCloud settings (Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage).
  • Anything saved to Apple Health or Photos stays there until you delete it in the Health or Photos app.

This website

This site has no forms and collects nothing. It sets no cookies and has no analytics. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts to handle data in a new way, this policy will change and the date at the top will change with it. Big changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
